Happy Naw-Rúz!

Happy Naw-Rúz!

“NAW-RÚZ” MEANS “New Day” in Persian. For Bahá’ís around the world, Naw-Rúz is one of the nine holy days of the year, a joyous celebration that welcomes the first day of spring . . . and the first day of a brand new year.

Historically and in contemporary times, Nowrūz is the traditional celebration of the Iránian new year. It is commemorated throughout the Middle East and Central Asia, particularly by Zoroastrians and Sufists. Shī'a Nizārī Ismā'īlī Muslims, who trace their origins to Irán, celebrate the festival under the name Navroz.

Abdu'l-Bahá, Son of the Founder of the Bahá'í Faith, has said of Naw-Rúz:

The rising of the sun at the equinox is the symbol of life and the human reality is revivified; our thoughts are transformed and our intelligence is quickened. The sun of truth bestows eternal life, just as the solar sun is the cause of terrestrial life.

This new year, may the new beginnings of spring bring you boundless joy & good health through summer, fall, & winter . . . and may your days be filled with the life-giving light of His Divine guidance & protection!
